Text Box: We knew that we wanted to adopt a child, probably a girl about 1-6 years old. We knew that we were called by God to go on a mission trip to Ukraine with our friends, Linda and Jim Deeming. And we knew that we were NOT going to adopt from Ukraine! But everything thing that we “knew” changed when we met a 12 year old girl named Rimma in July of 2005. After we spent 2 weeks hosting summer programs at orphan’s camps, we knew we were going home to Colorado but leaving a daughter behind. Text Box: We went home and told our daughters all about Rimma and the little bits that we knew about her brother, Yuri (we have not met him). The girls thought about it and then decided that our family would be even better with another sister and a brother. So, a few weeks after we returned from Ukraine, we started to find out what we needed to know about adopting Rimma and Yuri. Text Box: Now we have officially been approved for adoption in Ukraine and have received our invitation to travel there for our adoption. Our appointment is August 21st!We still have lots of preparation to do (and packing!) including our final fundraising efforts. Until then, we wait, we pray, we prepare, and we dream of bringing them home.
